The new Surface Pen launched by Microsoft utilizes an infrared sensing antenna and pressure sensor to accurately distinguish between writing and touch operations, solving the problem of palm accidental touch on the screen. The antenna is located at the top of the pen body and emits infrared signals in real time. When it detects that the palm is close to the screen, it automatically triggers the anti misoperation algorithm, blocks palm touch input, and only recognizes pen tip operations.
In the writing test, when users naturally place their palms on the screen to write, the accidental touch rate decreased from 18% of traditional electronic pens to 0.5%, and the writing fluency was significantly improved. A student from a certain university gave feedback that when using this electronic note taking system, there is no need to deliberately suspend their palm, which improves comfort and increases note taking efficiency by 15%.
